Macquarie IC3: Macquarie Launches its New Intellicentre 3 East Facility in Sydney, Australia

Macquarie Data Centres has announced the launch of its Intellicentre 3 East data center in Sydney, Australia. The facility is located at the Macquarie Park Data Centre Campus in North Sydney. According to Macquarie, the new facility cost over AU$85 million (US$63.9 million). The 16MW facility was first announced in 2019. In addition, the company finished external work at the facility in 2020. It also signed a 10MW lease with a customer in the same year.
A ceremony was held for the opening of the facility. Interestingly, Scott Morrison, the Prime Minister of Australia, was in attendance. He said both the economy and security of the country depend on each other. He added that he is proud that the $200 million data center campus is owned and operated by Australians. Macquarie is already planning for another facility at the campus. The planned facility will have a 32MW capacity while bringing the campus’ total capacity to 50MW.
