KT Cloud has started construction on a 50MW AI data center in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, with completion targeted for 2029. The company announced the Ansan AI Data Center on Oct. 22.

KT Cloud develops the facility on land it owns and will operate it. CJ Logistics' construction division won the contract to build the data center, the company said the same day. The site is in the Banwol National Industrial Complex in Ansan.
The building is planned for about 36,878 square meters of gross floor area across two basement levels and nine above-ground floors, The Elec reports. It will take in 50MW of power, of which 32MW is IT load supplied to actual equipment, according to CJ Logistics. Construction is due to run about 38 months.
Every server room is designed to support liquid cooling. KT Cloud reinforced the server room floors and the building structure to carry high-performance accelerators such as Nvidia's Vera Rubin GPUs. A free-cooling system will install cooling coils on the building's upper exterior walls and connect them to closed-circuit cooling towers, cutting chiller and cooling tower fan power in cooler months.
"The Ansan AI Data Center is a project that incorporates next-generation design technology and power and cooling infrastructure optimized for high-density AI servers," said Kim Bong-kyun, CEO of KT Cloud. Kim said the company will draw on its data center construction and operation experience to provide stable and efficient AI infrastructure, Chosun Biz reported.
The Ansan project is part of KT Cloud's plan to supply 1GW of AI data center capacity by 2031. KT Cloud is also developing a 50MW facility in the Cheongna district of Incheon, a project Baxtel covered in October. Construction there is due to start in the fourth quarter of 2026, with completion targeted for the first quarter of 2030, RCR Wireless News reported. Work has also begun on a 60MW data center in Gunsan with SGC Energy that is due online in the first quarter of 2028 and could scale to 300MW.
KT Cloud opened its Gasan AI Data Center in November 2025. The five-story site offers liquid cooling and 26MW of IT capacity.
Baxtel tracks 102 data centers in the Seoul market, where KT Cloud DC operates nine facilities and 21 data centers are under construction.
