Kasi Cloud & Data Centers has launched the first phase of its planned 100MW data center campus in Nigeria. Kasi LOS1 is the first building to become operational at the site. The company has not disclosed the IT capacity of the facility. Located in the Maiyegun area of Lekki near Lagos, Kasi first broke ground on the four-hectare campus in April 2022.
At the time of the project’s launch, the data center was reported to be backed by a $250 million investment. The Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority — the state-owned organization responsible for managing the country’s sovereign wealth funds — was among the project’s investors. Kasi Cloud & Data Centers has said the facility will be powered by a mix of gas generation, solar energy, and battery storage systems, with a targeted power usage effectiveness (PUE) of below 1.6. The company is also developing another data center in Eket in southern Nigeria, although few details about the project have been disclosed.
