Iron Mountain has announced the acquisition of XData Properties, one of Madrid’s largest data center parks. The acquisition sees Iron Mountain expand its footprint considerably. The property reportedly has enough power to develop 79MW over the next years. The property currently hosts a 3MW data center. There are also plans for a 20MW facility to be completed in 2024.

Iron Mountain Data Centers EMEA’s VP and General Manager, Eric Boonstra, said: “The acquisition of XData enables us to meet the growing demand for connected, compliant, and sustainable data center services across Europe, and we are thrilled to be expanding our EMEA footprint. Madrid is emerging as a strategic and growing market, and this campus enables us to welcome both enterprise and hyperscale customers.”

Madrid is regarded as one of the fastest-growing data center markets in the world. The acquisition will help the company support a robust ecosystem where service, network, cloud providers, and consumers can connect with each other without hassle.
