Amazon AWS: Hilliard's Planning Commission Approves AWS' Proposal For Data Center Campus in Hilliard, Ohio

The Hilliard planning and zoning commission has approved Amazon Web Services’ proposal to develop a third data center campus in the city. The commission voted 4-3 to approve the proposal. The Board of Zoning Appeals also approved AWS’ request to increase the maximum building height to 63 feet from 45 feet. In addition, it approved the facility's fence to be increased to 8 feet from 7 feet. Other minor additions were also approved. 

According to reports, AWS will develop eight buildings on the site. Seven of those buildings will serve as data centers, with the last one being slated as a security and utility building. Reports of AWS planning a data center campus in Hilliard, Ohio, first came to light in May. The campus will be developed on 151 acres acquired in January 2021 for $15.3 million.
