Google has signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with French energy firm TotalEnergies for power from a solar farm in Williams County, Ohio. Under the terms of the PPA, Total will supply Google with 1.5TWh of power from the 49MW Montpelier solar farm, which is expected to reach operational status by the end of the year.

“We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with Google with this agreement to supply renewable electricity to their data centers in Ohio,” said Stéphane Michel, president of Gas, Renewables & Power at TotalEnergies. “This agreement illustrates TotalEnergies’s ability to meet the growing energy demands of major tech companies by leveraging its integrated portfolio of renewable and flexible assets. It also contributes to achieving our target of 12 percent profitability in the power sector.”

The PPA follows Google's June 2024 announcement that it would invest an additional $2.3 billion in its three data center campuses in Central Ohio. The company currently has operational data centers in New Albany and Lancaster and is constructing another in Columbus.
