Google is exploring a new data center project in Lea County, New Mexico.
The company has not disclosed further details, including the site location or facility specifications.
“Though many details remain outstanding, we’re excited about the possibilities that exist in Lea County, and look forward to sharing more as the project progresses,” Google said.
Lea County is in southeastern New Mexico, bordering Texas. The project would be Google’s first self-built data center in the state, following developments in nearby Arizona and Texas. New Mexico has a smaller data center market, mainly centered around Albuquerque, with operators including Stack, Meta, Csquare, and H5.
