Google: Google announces expansion plans in The Dallas, Oregon

According to Oregon Live, Google plans to build more data centers in The Dalles, in Oregon’s Wasco County. The report shows that the search engine giant wants to build two more data centers in The Dalles. It is also looking to get access to more water and tax breaks. Google will be building one of the data centers on the land it acquired it acquired in 2016. The land in question is a 74-acre plot, and it acquired it from Northwest Aluminum at the time.

Google filed for a Strategic Investment Program tax break for the rodeo and aluminum smelter sites in The Dalles earlier in the year. The Company plans to invest up to $600 million there. Although the size of the data centers and the expected water use have not been revealed, Google has agreed to pay the local water utility for upgrades. In return for this, Google wants increased access to water. The agreement will see Google pay a total of $28.5 million for the upgrades.

Google built its data center in The Dalles in 2006. The Company also revealed that it has spent in excess of $1.8 billion in the city through multiple expansions.
