Equinix: Equinix expands footprint in Canada

Equinix has announced plans for a facility in Montreal, Canada. Known as MT2, the new facility is projected to be operational in the second half of 2023. In the first phase of the project, the facility will offer 500 racks from Q3, phase two, meanwhile, will add a further 500 racks by the fourth quarter of this year.

Andrew Eppich, managing director at Equinix Canada, said that the new facility represents what he called a "major milestone" in the company's investment to bring "the best of Equinix to Canada and the best of Canada to the world." Further, he highlighted Montreal as a key economic center in Canada and globally, citing its thriving and innovative ecosystem, which he said is known for its "diversity, creativity, and collaborative spirit."

Eppich added: "Expanding our footprint in this metro will offer companies the best-in-class data center design with access to connectivity both globally and within Canada, so they can advance on their digital infrastructure and innovation journey at home and abroad."
