Equinix has announced that it is opening its third International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in Dubai, which, at full build-out, will offer 1,800 cabinets of capacity across two phases or a total footprint of 12,000 square meters (135,000 square feet). The facility will support the company's rapid growth in the MENA, and will be the company's largest data center in the region.

To be known as DX3, the facility will see an investment of over $60M in the first phase, and is located on the same campus as DX1. Further, the facility will reportedly utilize "cutting-edge" technologies in cooling, redundancy and scalability and will be powered with 100% renewable energy.

Speaking about this development, Kamel Al-Tawil, managing director of Equinix MENA, said the company is "committed" to building a more sustainable digital future, adding that it is "already the beating heart of the UAE's digital economy."

"DX3 is poised to facilitate connectivity and accelerate digitalization across the region, and we will continue to play a role in enabling the country to achieve its digital potential and provide organisations in the Middle East with an all-new platform for digital transformation, innovation and growth," Al-Tawil added.
