May 27, 2021 | Posted by Eric Bell

EPH has announced that it is looking into the prospects of building a data center in Kilroot, Northern Ireland (NI). The company has commissioned TechRE to conduct a study to assess the feasibility of construction at NI’s last coal-fired power station due to close between 2023 and 2024.

EPH has proposed a £600 million ($748m) Energy Park on the site, with plans to include a new gas pipeline, solar farm, hydrogen energy plant, and an existing battery storage array.

The plant currently generates 560MW from coal and oil and 141MW from gas.
