Empyrion DC: Empyrion DC expands in South Korea

Empyrion DC has announced that it’s expanding its data center footprint with the addition of a new 10-story data center located in Seoul, South Korea. The facility will have a capacity of 40MW, and the company plans to inject as much as $400 million into the project and launch it in 2024.

Speaking about the facility in the Gangnam area of Seoul, James Chern, chairman and managing partner of Seraya Partners, commented: “Leveraging our deep local networks in Seoul, we sourced this exclusive transaction that wasn’t available in the market. As Seoul is running out of data center supply, and as we plan to achieve ‘ready-for-service’ status in 2024, we already have customers requesting to lease entire floors.”

The Seraya Partners-owned firm outlined that considering there have been no new developments in the area for over ten years, the Empyrion DC’s GDC project will “alleviate the data center supply shortage in Gangnam and the broader metropolitan Seoul area.”
