EdgeMode is expanding in Spain with plans for a 300MW “Malpica AI” data center project in Mora, Toledo province. The company is partnering with hydrogen fuel cell developer Bloom Energy to build a campus focused on AI workloads. The initiative represents an estimated €3 billion ($3.42bn) investment and is intended to be part of a broader European network of high-performance computing and AI facilities.

Mora mayor Emilio Bravo called the project a major boost for the region, estimating thousands of construction jobs and around 1,000 permanent roles. The EdgeMode project remains in an early stage, with a non-binding agreement in place and further approvals still required. CEO Charlie Faulkner said the site was chosen for its proximity to Madrid and strong local support.

The on-site power model is expected to speed up deployment, potentially enabling operations within 18–24 months by avoiding Europe’s grid capacity constraints. The Mora project is among the largest data center developments announced in Spain. EdgeMode is also developing an AI data center platform in Spain with BAIF, backed by 1.5GW of secured power, including planned sites in Córdoba, Albacete, and Toledo.
