EdgeConneX has announced that it has made a strategic investment in Chinese data center company Chayora. The investment will see both EdgeConneX and Chayora offer data center services out of Chayora’s data centers in China. The firm will also expand on the existing data centers across Mainland China. Chayora currently operates a carrier-neutral, hyperscale data center campus in Tianjin. It is also developing another campus in Shanghai.
According to EdgeConneX, the two data center campuses can jointly scale to more than 200MW in IT load. The facilities can also have access to 100% renewable energy. The CEO of EdgeConneX, Randy Broukman, said the company’s customers are looking for data center solutions in the Asia-Pacific region, and it is important to have a data center presence in China. He further added that the company’s investment in Chayora will provide its customers with a data center partner that can support their digital infrastructure needs in the country.
