Datacenter Münster Osnabrück (DMO) last month broke ground on its debut facility at Münster Osnabrück Airport in Greven. The first phase of construction will see more than €8 million ($8.3m) invested in developing a 500 sqm (5,380 sq ft) facility with capacity for 140 racks at densities up to 30kW. A 700kWp solar system is also being developed.

"With the Münster Osnabrück data center, we are creating a high-performance IT infrastructure that meets both the growing demands of the regional economy and the needs of the public sector. Our goal is to support companies, public institutions, and municipalities in implementing their digitization strategies while ensuring the highest security standards," Christoph Stegemann, MD of DMO, said at the company’s launch last October.

“The specially founded DMO GmbH is responsible for the construction and operation of this innovative project. The DMO will not only be the most sustainable data center in the region, but also the first to be AI-ready – ready for the demands of the future.”
