NewTelco GmbH : German data center provider NewTelco opens new data center

German data center provider NewTelco launched a new data center in Karlstein am Main, Germany, on November 30, 2023. This facility, located in the  Karlstein municipality just east of Frankfurt, has an  IT capacity of 5MW and is designed for medium-sized customers.

According to NewTelco, the location for the facility was chosen because four of the country’s power grids meet in the region. Hence, the facility has access to two separate grids, and there is also a fiber optic ring connecting Frankfurt and Karlstein.

Plans for this facility dubbed MainRZ, initially released in 2021, suggested that  the site would have its own dedicated photovoltaic system and that there was a "concept for using the heat we produce in collaboration with the local community." NewTelco managing director Matthias Hartmann also mentioned that the company hopes that the data center will attract more IT companies to the area, thus creating more jobs.
