DCI Auckland AKL01: DCI to build data center in Auckland, New Zealand

DCI Data Centers has announced that it is expanding to New Zealand. The Company was recently granted New Zealand Overseas Investment Office consent to buy land for building a data center in Auckland, New Zealand. DCI didn’t reveal the timeline for building the facility, but it is said that construction won’t take long.
Malcolm Roe, CEO of DCI, commented that the Company is excited to be starting its cloud program in New Zealand. He also added that the site at Westgate, Auckland is only the first and that DCI is currently finalizing other sites to meet its demands. Finally, he noted that the facilities would help hasten the adoption of cloud services important for aiding economic growth across all sectors.
DCI Data Centers secures first New Zealand data centre site4 June 2021: DCI Data Centers (DCI) has today announced it has been granted New Zealand Overseas Investment Office (“OIO”) consent to purchase land for a major new data centre in Auckland.
The OIO approval is the first step toward DCI establishing its presence inNew Zealand’s fast growing cloud services business.
DCI owns and operates leading data centre facilities, serving cloud and managed service providers, governments and enterprises across Asia Pacific.

DCI AKL01 will be located on a site at Westgate in north-west Auckland and will utilise DCI’s standardised design for a cloud data centre. After engagement with Auckland Council, DCI has lodged a resource consent application for the facility.
Auckland Deputy Mayor, Bill Cashmorewelcomedthis news, saying:“I am really pleased to see commercial developments ramping up at Westgate. Regional employment and commercial activities based around the whole of Auckland is a critical regional growth factor.”
DCI currently has two large scale data centre assets located in Sydney and Adelaide. It has also recently announced an additional$70 million investment in a Tier-Ready III certified cloud edge data centre at its current Adelaide facility.
