Bangladesh: DataVolt intends to construct a data facility in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

DataVolt, a new Saudi company, is planning a data center campus outside Dhaka, Bangladesh. Local media report that the company intends to invest $100 million to construct a data center on three acres of land in the Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City in the Kaliakair district of Gazpur. The announcement was made during a bilateral meeting between DataVolt's chief strategy officer, Ayad Al Amri, and State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak. No information was provided regarding facility specifications or development schedules.
Saudi Arabia-based DataVolt was established this year. The company's website states that it operates in Riyadh, Dubai, and California but provides no additional information. A Saudi Arabian holding company for development and investments focusing on critical infrastructure, Vision Invest, owns all of the shares of DataVolt. Rajit Nanda was formerly the CFO of ACWA Power, a Saudi Arabia-based developer of power generation and desalination facilities. Most of DataVolt's board and executive staff have joined from Vision Invest-owned ACWA.
The company recently announced a partnership with AquaTech Systems, an Indian water technology company, to develop water-efficient data centers but provided no additional information. The Saudi company has also partnered with the Indian engineering firm Sterling and Wilson to develop data centers, but no further information has been disclosed.
