Edged Energy intends to construct a new data center in the Phoenix, Arizona, neighborhood of Mesa. Edged Energy has submitted applications to Mesa's design review board and development and zoning board to construct a 126,000-square-foot data center on a 14-acre site near the Loop 202 interstate and Warner Road, according to BizJournal. The site includes a substation from Salt River Project, the local utility. According to reports, the company is collaborating on the project with HKS Architects and the civil engineering firm HilgartWilson LLC.
Edged Energy is a subsidiary of Endeavour, founded by Jakob Carnemark, the founder of Aligned. After partnering with Merlin Properties on data centers in Spain and Portugal, including Madrid, Bilbao, a 24MW data center in Barcelona, and Lisbon, the company first came into being in 2021. The company began crossing the Atlantic Ocean earlier this year, with plans for a data center in Atlanta, Georgia, and a different one in Chicago, Illinois, for which construction began in May 2023. Even in the "hottest climates," the company asserts that its data centers will have a PUE of 1.15.
