A data center is being built by Edged Energy in Kansas City, Missouri. According to BizJournal, the Northland of Kansas City will soon see the start of construction on a data center by engineering and construction company Burns & McDonnell. The company is constructing an 18MW waterless-cooled facility at 3420 N. Arlington Avenue for Edged Energy and Evergy, a local utility. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for next week, with completion anticipated in June 2024. Currently, the site is undeveloped greenfield land.
Edged Energy is a subsidiary of Endeavour, founded by Jakob Carnemark, the founder of Aligned. After partnering with Merlin Properties on facilities across Spain and Portugal, which include Madrid, Bilbao, a 24MW facility in Barcelona, and Lisbon, the company first came to light in 2021. The company began crossing the Atlantic Ocean earlier this year, with initiatives for a data center in Atlanta, Georgia, and another in Chicago, Illinois, for which construction began in May 2023. Additionally, the company has proposed constructing a 126,000-square-foot data center on a 14-acre site in the Mesa neighborhood of Phoenix, Arizona.
In addition to promising "net zero digital infrastructure," the company asserts that even in the "hottest climates," its data centers will have a PUE of 1.15.
