CoreSite: CoreSite Acquires Hurricane Resistant Data Center in Miami, Florida

CoreSite has announced the acquisition of a data center in Miami, Florida. The data center acquired is a purpose-built 9,550 square meter (103,000 square feet) facility located at 2100 NW 84th Avenue. The company didn’t reveal the terms of the transaction. CoreSite is naming the new data center MI2. MI2 can withstand a Category 5 hurricane. In addition, CoreSite will also be connecting the MI2 facility to its existing MI1 data center. 

The CEO and President of CoreSite, Juan Font, said: “Miami serves as a key conduit for businesses to manage and grow operations in both North and South America. This expansion in the CoreSite Miami data center campus will provide the hybrid IT solution enterprises turn to for secure and scalable connectivity to South America from the US.” Font continued by saying: “We are excited to build on our proven record of operational excellence in the greater Miami area where we have been operating since 2006, offering optimal customer experience, critical security and business continuity support and access to cloud and network providers.”

CoreSite failed to name the price of the facility or the seller. The company also currently operates a facility in Miami called MI1. The data center has been in operation since 2006, and it is located at 2115 NW 22nd Street, Miami. The facility has 4,000 square meters (43,000 square feet) of data center space.
