ClusterPower Craiova: ClusterPower to develop first "hyperscale data center" in southern Romania

ClusterPower, a Romanian cloud services startup, has announced that it is building the first hyperscale data center in southern Romania, based near Craiova. The center is to be the first of five planned on 25,427 sq m of company-owned land in Mischii, Dolj county. The campus, powered by natural gas, will reportedly have 4500 racks and a 200MW capacity.
Reportedly, the facility is designed to Tier III standards. However, this is yet to be recognized by the UpTime Institute. It will also have a PUE of 1.1.
So far, the project has received 172 million Leu ($42.5 million) of investment. The Ministry of Finance provided 82 million Leu ($20.2 million) of this.
The technology park is expected to be complete by 2025.
Commenting on the development, Vladimir Ester, CTO of ClusterPower, said: "Our project is the first large data center in Romania and the first hyper-scale in Southeast Europe, and through this we will increase Romania's competitiveness in the global IT infrastructure.What we offer to our customers, beyond a center of excellence for artificial intelligence, is trust, data security and disaster resilience."
