India / Bhārata: Blackstone Starts Asian Data Center Unit With 600MW Facilities in India

Blackstone, a private equity investor, has revealed that it is launching an Asian data center platform called Lumina CloudInfra. The development will see Blackstone start with two data center facilities in India with a total capacity of 600MW. Blackstone reportedly has up to $25 billion in the new unit. Lumina CloudInfra has a focus on the Indian market, and two projects are already in the works in Chennai and Mumbai.
Lumina CloudInfra will be led by the ex-head of global cloud infrastructure at Microsoft, Anil Reddy. The Indian business will also be led by an ex-head of the country at Colt Data Center Services, Sujeet Deshpande. According to Anil Reddy, there’s a high demand for data center services in India. The details for the planned facilities are limited at the moment.
