Amazon Web Services (AWS) is planning a new data center campus in Boling, Texas, outside Houston. Filed under Amazon Data Services with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, “Project Eagle” will include four buildings on a roughly 2,700-acre site in Wharton County near FM 1301 and FM 442.
Each of the four planned data center buildings has been filed separately, with each facility measuring 189,060 sq ft (17,565 sqm) and representing a $300 million investment. Construction is expected to begin in August 2026, with three buildings scheduled for completion in January 2027 and the fourth in August 2027. Located southwest of Houston, Wharton County has attracted limited data center development despite the city being one of Texas’ largest data center markets.
AWS is expanding its data center presence across Texas, with several large-scale projects in development. In May 2026, the company acquired 1,300 acres near Cedar Creek in Bastrop County for a potential campus, while it also maintains operations in San Antonio and has proposed projects near Dallas and Fort Worth.
