AWS is expanding its Local Zones offerings in Nigeria, Peru, and Mexico. The company has announced that new Local Zones will be located in Lagos, Lima, and Querétaro, respectively. These zones will offer a range of services for latency-sensitive applications in locations where the company doesn't yet have a data center footprint. These services include:
  • Compute,
  • Storage, and
  • Database.
This latest development comes following an announcement by AWS last year, which outlined plans to launch the service in 32 cities throughout 26 markets internationally. In accordance with this plan, the company has, so far, launched 15 international Local Zones in 14 markets outside the US.

In a statement, the company said: "AWS Local Zones are now available in three new metro areas — Lagos, Lima, and Querétaro. You can now use these AWS Local Zones to deliver applications that require single-digit millisecond latency or local data processing."
