Amazon Web Services has begun plotting for four new data centers in Mesa, Arizona, on land already owned by the company, as it looks to increase its footprints in the East Valley. The company has filed pre-submittal documents with Mesa's planning office for two data centers about four miles apart in Mesa's Maricopa County.

The plans for both data center campuses are identical, each calling for halls at about 227,000 square feet a piece. Both projects' successful completion will add approximately 908,000 square feet of data center space for Amazon in the East Valley.

One proposed center is on 42.9 acres off Elliot Road, next door to the Apple data center in Mesa, while the other is on 71.3 acres at 10464 E. Pecos Road, just east of the Legacy Park sports complex. Reports from BizJournal noted that the company acquired both sites in December 2021, paying $16.9 million for the Elliot Road property and about $18 million for the Pecos property.
