Aligned develops and operates the data centers that deploy the unit. Munters, the climate control manufacturer, co-engineered Delta Cube 3.0 through its R&D department and builds every unit destined for the North American market at plants in Selma, Texas, and Daleville, Virginia. Aligned did not disclose the commercial terms of the work.
Delta Cube 3.0 serves as the core of Aligned's closed-loop cooling system and requires no water for operational cooling, according to the release. Aligned attributes the efficiency improvement to redesigned proprietary heat exchangers, supply fan impellers, and drive motors. The company says the updated design adds safer maintenance access for technicians, standardized prefabricated construction for faster deployment, and lower total campus power consumption at scale.
"As compute densities skyrocket, air cooling isn't going away, it just needs to adapt to ultra-high-density environments," said Michael Welch, Chief Technology Officer at Aligned Data Centers.
Aligned says the Delta Cube platform is covered by more than 50 issued patents and more than 500 patent claims. [Data Centre Magazine](https://datacentremagazine.com/news/how-aligneds-delta3-3-0-advances-air-cooling-in-data-centres) reported on October 30 that the engineering work targeted speed to market and reduced operational downtime, and that Aligned pitches the unit for hybrid halls that combine air and liquid cooling. Munters's two plants employ more than 670 workers dedicated to data center cooling systems, according to the release.
