Administrative Office Of U.S. Courts Seeks Vendor For Two Colocation Data Centers

The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AOUSC) is seeking a vendor to provide colocation services across two geographically diverse data centers. The agency has issued a request for information (RFI) for providers that can meet its requirements. AOUSC currently uses a Digital Realty facility in El Segundo, California, and a Csquare data center in Ashburn, Virginia. Courts east of the Mississippi primarily use Ashburn, while western courts are routed through San Diego.

An unnamed third-party vendor currently manages the contracts with the two data center providers, which expire in July 2029. The AOUSC is seeking a new contractor to keep both facilities operational through at least July 2032. It is also considering relocating to new data center sites.

The AOUSC prefers one of the data center locations to be near Washington, DC. During the contract, the agency plans to continue moving workloads to the cloud, primarily using Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services. Responses to the RFI are due by September 21.
