UK Brent Council plans to upgrade data center with £3.8 million ($5.3 million)

Brent Council, a governing body of a borough of London, just revealed its plan to spend £3.8 million ($5.3 million) to upgrade data centers over the next four years. The council says it is part of its plan to create a modern and robust IT system. 

The upgrades involve upgrading physical storage and virtualization infrastructure to a hyper-converged infrastructure solution. Not only that but it also involves improving bandwidth capacity to 10Gbps, and replacing legacy backup solutions, among others.

Margaret McLennan, Labor councilor said that the upgrades are vital because IT plays a significant role in the everyday running of the council.

There are 271 data centers in London.
