300MW Data Center Campus Planned for Kent, UK

UK renewable energy developer Clearstone has proposed a 300MW data center campus in Kent. Planned for a 145-acre site near Dartford, the Ebbsfleet AI Data Centre Campus would comprise up to 180,000 sqm (1.9 million sq ft) of data center space across four buildings. The project has been designated a development of national significance, which could accelerate planning, with the first facility targeted to open in 2030.

The campus would connect directly to National Grid's transmission network, with public consultation scheduled for 2027. The proposed site is currently agricultural land. Founded in 2016, Clearstone has developed 2GW of UK energy projects and focuses on grid-connected infrastructure.

Clearstone develops utility-scale solar and battery storage through Clearstone Energy, while its Clearstone Data division focuses on data centers. The company says it has 900MW of data center capacity in development, including two other 300MW projects near Luton and in East London, both targeted for 2030. A separate 300MW battery storage project in Dartford was withdrawn last year after planning officials recommended refusal.clearstone_ebbsfleet.width-358.webp
