Ooredoo has rebranded its data center business following an investment from Iron Mountain, with the company now known as Syntys. Syntys is a leader in physical and digital infrastructure services, specializing in the design, construction and management of data centres. With a network of operational facilities across various markets in the MENA region, Syntys serves hyperscalers, colocation wholesale providers, and AI infrastructure deployments, enabling seamless digital growth in the region.
In March 2021, Ooredoo launched its new flagship Bawshar Data Center in Muscat.
In 2024, Qatari telco Ooredoo launched a data center facility in Sohar, Oman. The facility can hold up to 1,200 racks and has been built to Tier III standards
Ooredoo operates three data centers, QDC1, QDC2, and QDC3, which are all housed within the same building.
