Positioned adjacent to the company's newly operational Colossus 2 data center, the facility will provide critical infrastructure to support the rapid growth of xAI's Grok chatbot. This expansion is part of a broader tri-state cluster strategy—which includes a pipeline facility in Mississippi—aimed at scaling xAI's total compute power to a massive 2GW.
However, the aggressive buildup has not been without friction; the company is currently facing legal challenges from environmental groups over its controversial use of unpermitted gas turbines to fast-track power generation at the Memphis site.
