Go to PodcastThe planned SMR-powered data center is part of a larger nuclear energy initiative in central Uzbekistan, specifically designed to integrate high-density digital infrastructure with a stable, carbon-free power source.
Developed through a partnership between Uzatom and Muroosystems Corporation, the project utilizes Russian RITM-200N reactor technology. This modular approach allows the facility to operate independently of the national grid, providing a dedicated power line to the data center. Beyond its primary role in supporting IT workloads, the project serves as a pilot for a "carbon-free energy cluster" that could eventually include district heating and industrial steam production for the surrounding region.
