Synapse Data Centre Inc. is advancing a $10-billion private-sector project in Olds, Alberta, aimed at establishing one of Canada’s most significant digital infrastructure hubs. Located on a 300-acre site, the proposed 2-million-square-foot campus is designed to support high-density AI workloads and cloud computing.

To ensure operational reliability without straining the provincial electrical grid, the facility will utilize on-site natural gas-fired power generation and a closed-loop water cooling system that requires only a one-time fill.

The project is expected to create 2,000 construction jobs and over 1,000 permanent high-tech roles, with a phased construction timeline targeting initial operations as early as late 2026 and full campus completion within two years.
