Fort Meade city commissioners have unanimously approved a 20-year development agreement with Maryland-based developer Stonebridge for a massive, 1,300-acre data center campus.

Representing a $2.6 billion investment, the project is slated to include eight buildings totaling up to 4.4 million square feet, with groundbreaking expected by late 2026 and operations commencing in 2028. To secure the deal, the city provided a $150 million, 10-year tax break, while Stonebridge committed $10 million for local infrastructure and the creation of over 450 high-paying jobs averaging $107,000 annually.

The land, currently used for cattle grazing and consisting of former phosphate mines, is owned by Florida Eco Park, LLC and Polk Industrial Park, LLC. Florida Ecopark acquired the property in 2018.
