In March 2026, the Department of Energy, SB Energy and state officials held a groundbreaking ceremony at the Portsmouth site.

In February 2026, an SB Energy subsidiary leased 189 acres of the Department of Energy site for the first data center building.

In November 2025, the Department of Energy approved leasing 189 acres of the Portsmouth site for data center use.
