Overview
This site is Phase 2 of the Stratos Project (branded as Wonder Valley), Kevin O'Leary's 9 GW off-grid AI data center and natural-gas power campus on ~40,000 acres in western Box Elder County, Utah. Phase 2 represents the ~6 GW expansion beyond the initial Phase 1 Hansel Valley buildout.
Location
- Locomotive Springs area, western Box Elder County, Utah
- Parcels straddle Locomotive Springs Rd and Old Railroad Grade Rd
- Approximately 17 miles WSW of the Phase 1 Hansel Valley site
- Includes ~1,200 acres combining a portion of the DoD Utah Test and Training Range and Utah Trust Lands Administration property
- Approximate center: 41.7099 N, -112.9228 W (Locomotive Springs reference point)
- Adjacent to (but not on) the state-managed Locomotive Springs Wildlife Management Area
Scale and Power
- ~6 GW additional capacity, all on-site natural gas generation
- Brings full Stratos campus total to ~9 GW
- 100% off-grid
- Gas supply via the same Tallgrass Energy / Ruby Pipeline arrangement as Phase 1; a 9 GW gas plant requires ~1.4 to 1.6 Bcf/d, effectively all of Ruby's ~1.5 Bcf/d mainline capacity
Status
- Land secured under the MIDA / Box Elder County interlocal agreement (Resolution 26-11, 5/4/2026)
- No phase-specific in-service date published
- Phase 2 begins after Phase 1 (Hansel Valley) is materially built out
- Total 10-year campus buildout timeline from 5/2026 approval implies Phase 2 in-service roughly 2030 to 2036
