Meta, formerly known as Facebook, initiated construction on its Forest City campus in 2010, with the first data center coming online in 2012. The site has since grown to encompass three data centers, covering a combined area of 1.3 million square feet.
Over the past 14 years, Meta has invested more than $750 million in the Forest City data center campus. In terms of resource consumption, the Forest City data centers consume 492,786 MWh of electricity annually and withdraw 16.6 million gallons (62.9 million liters) of water per year.
