Hut 8’s Kelowna data center is a Tier III facility in British Columbia that utilizes 2N redundancy for its power, cooling, and network infrastructure. Originally established and operated by RackForce, the facility was purchased by TeraGo in 2015.
Hut 8 subsequently acquired the site as part of its purchase of TeraGo’s data center business, a deal that was announced in January 2022 and finalized during the first quarter of that year.
Hut 8 Canada operates five carrier-neutral colocation facilities in Ontario and British Columbia, totaling approximately 8.9 MW of critical power. The portfolio includes facilities in Kelowna, Vancouver (2), Mississauga, and Vaughan.
The Canadian data centers were acquired through Hut 8 Corp's purchase of TeraGo Inc. in September 2023, which closed alongside the Hut 8 Mining and US Bitcoin Corp merger that formed the current Hut 8 Corp. The facilities offer colocation, managed services, and cloud connectivity, primarily serving mid-market and enterprise customers across regulated industries.
All five sites operate at a reported PUE of 1.3 with N+1 power redundancy. The Toronto-area facilities benefit from proximity to the Toronto Internet Exchange (TorIX). The Vancouver Vault facility is housed in a former Bank of Canada building at 900 W Hastings St.
Hut 8 Canada is headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario. The parent company, Hut 8 Corp, is publicly traded on the NASDAQ (HUT) and operates a broader portfolio of data center, digital asset mining, and high-performance computing infrastructure across North America.
