Bain Capital entered the data center market in October 2024 by acquiring a facility that previously belonged to AQ-Compute. This acquisition allowed Bain Capital to launch hscale later in 2025, a new hyperscale data center operator focused on the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region.
One of the key assets under hscale's portfolio is the AQ-OSL1 data center. This facility, located in Hønefoss, near Oslo and Norway's largest international airport, has been operational since February 2024 and is designed for AI-ready colocation.
