Hscale Secures $1B Hyperscaler Contract For Spanish Data Centers

Bain Capital-backed Hscale has secured a contract worth more than $1 billion with an unnamed hyperscaler for capacity at its data centers in Spain. The facilities will support the client’s cloud and AI workloads, with the agreement potentially expanding to other Hscale data centers across EMEA.

Hscale has not disclosed which Spanish data center will serve the client, but said capacity will be available in 2027. The company is developing two facilities in Spain: BCN1 in Barcelona with 50MW planned capacity, and MAD1 near Madrid with 192MW. Launched by Bain Capital in 2025, Hscale operates a data center in Oslo and has two more under development in Norway. It is also developing projects in Milan, London, Frankfurt, and Zaragoza. Bain created Hscale after acquiring an 80% stake in Aquila Group’s AQ Compute business in 2023.
