Fundamental Data: Ridgeline Facility

Lot Size: 500 acres

The proposed "Ridgeline Facility," also known as the "Ridgeline Power Plant," is a data center and natural gas plant project put forth by Fundamental Data, a Virginia-based company. This facility is primarily proposed for a 500-acre site located between the towns of Davis and Thomas in Tucker County, West Virginia, adjacent to the county landfill. There are also reports suggesting that, if fully developed, the project could expand to 10,000 acres across both Tucker and Grant counties.

The natural gas plant is designed to generate a significant amount of power, intended solely for the on-site data center's operations.

The proposal has met significant opposition from local residents and environmental groups like Tucker United and the West Virginia Highlands Conservancy. Their concerns revolve around the potential environmental impact, including air and water pollution, the facility's close proximity to residential areas and an elementary school, and the threat it poses to the region's natural beauty and vital tourism industry. The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is currently reviewing the project's Air Quality Permit application, with ongoing public comment periods and scheduled meetings.
