Planned under Firmus Technologies' broader Project Southgate initiative, Firmus Wesley Vale is a proposed regional AI data center campus situated in Wesley Vale, Tasmania.
Located within a zoned General Industrial precinct on part of the former Wesley Vale Pulp Mill site, the project features a single principal data hall building with a roof height between 8.5 m and 15 m housing direct liquid-cooled AI computing hardware. Positioned directly adjacent to TasNetworks’ existing Wesley Vale Substation, the site leverages direct high-voltage grid connections to deliver scalable power capacity for training and running frontier AI models.
Firmus - formerly known as Firmus Grid - was founded in 2019, and has been offering immersion-cooled AI systems running OpenStack and Kubernetes-based software from Canonical.
