Go to PodcastThe project was proposed by Enetron Park, a Finnish energy developer, as a combined data center and energy campus in the Pyhäjoki municipality on Finland’s west coast. It was the third data center scheme advanced in the municipality, alongside separate projects by other developers. Enetron sought approval for a partial master plan and a detailed plan for the site, but the municipal board declined the zoning initiative in a split vote, citing the absence of an existing general or local plan covering the area. The developer stated it was surprised and disappointed by the decision, and local reporting indicates the project is unlikely to go ahead in Pyhäjoki. Its status is stalled following the zoning rejection.
