Digital Power Optimization (DPO) has officially withdrawn from this project.
The original plans dictated that DPO, a US-based crypto and data center developer, would build a $200 million high-performance computing facility in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Under the initial agreement, DPO had secured land and power through a 50-year lease and partnership with Consolidated Water Power Company (CWPCo), a Billerud subsidiary, including interconnection rights to an existing substation and a firm power supply.
While the facility was originally expected to be operational in 2026, DPO officially notified the City of Wisconsin Rapids that it was backing out of the contract and cancelling all construction plans.
DPO helps utilities, IPPs, and renewable developers deploy data centers as a highly profitable behind-the-meter offtake mechanism. The company serves as an ally to the energy sector, not just another counterparty, with the goal of helping partners make more money from their power. DPO provides services to owners and operators of generation assets of all types and sizes, working to maximize each site's overall efficiency and profitability. For organizations that own or control power-generating assets from 5MW to 5GW, or are seeking to develop one, DPO can help maximize profitability and overall efficiency with proprietary structures and operating processes. Moreover, through overall grid-wide efficiency increases, DPO believes its process and technique can help reduce overall greenhouse emissions and aid in creating a more stable and predictable power grid, with lower prices for the end consumer.
