Data4, in partnership with BT Immo, has been selected to develop a €5 billion ($5.86bn) data center campus at the former Usinor steelworks site in the Soufflantes industrial park, Escaudain. Located near Valenciennes in Northern France, the site is one of 35 turnkey locations identified by the French government for digital infrastructure.
Following a successful bid over competitors like AWS, the consortium is entering a two-month feasibility study phase. If approved, the project aims to be operational by 2030, transforming a brownfield site that has been dormant for 45 years into a major regional technology hub.
