Originally known as the Toren van Spannenburg, this telecom & data tower was built by the former PTT and constructed in 1972. The tower stands at a height of 118 meters. In 2007, Cellnex acquired 24 telecom & data towers in the Netherlands from KPN, including this one.
By November 2016, Cellnex had partnered with ViaData Automatisering from Heerenveen, leading to the tower being renamed the ViaData Toren. The inauguration of its new data center was marked by a celebratory ceremony on November 4, 2016.
