Applied Digital's data center in Ellendale, Dickey County, North Dakota, was initially designed for cryptocurrency mining. However, the facility has since been repurposed for High-Performance Computing (HPC) as Applied Digital pivots toward AI-related services.
This site, known as Building 1, was constructed in two phases; the first phase entered service in October 2025, followed by the second in December.
