Applied Digital has completed the second phase of Building 2 at its Polaris Forge 1 campus in Ellendale, North Dakota, adding 75MW of IT capacity across three 25MW data halls. The 150MW Building 2 is now fully operational, bringing the campus to 250MW. The site is fully leased to CoreWeave and is planned to reach 400MW at full build-out. The campus began construction in 2022 for crypto and HPC workloads, but CoreWeave will now use all of its capacity. Building 2’s first phase went live in July, while Building 1 was completed in December 2025.
“Bringing another 75MW of AI infrastructure online at Polaris Forge 1 further demonstrates our ability to turn large-scale power into operational AI infrastructure,” said Wes Cummins, CEO and chairman of Applied Digital. “Securing power is only the starting point. The real work is designing, building, commissioning, and operating the infrastructure that transforms those megawatts into usable capacity for customers. That is the capability we continue to scale across our platform.”
Applied Digital is shifting from crypto mining to AI and HPC data centers, with five AI Factory campuses totaling 1.4GW of IT capacity under contract. Its portfolio includes Polaris Forge 2 and 3 in North Dakota, plus Delta Forge 1 and 2 in Louisiana and Alabama, with several sites leased to undisclosed hyperscalers. The company still operates two North Dakota crypto-mining sites totaling 286MW and recently spun off its ChronoScale cloud business.
