Amazon: Energy Way Industrial Park

Year Planned: 2027

Amazon is moving forward with a massive $10 billion data center campus in Richmond County, North Carolina.
The company has broken ground on the site, which is projected to include up to 20 buildings at full build-out. Each building is expected to exceed 200,000 square feet (18,580 sqm).

The data center will be located near Duke Energy's Sherwood H Smith Jr energy complex, a natural gas power plant capable of generating over 2.24GW. However, details regarding the data center's power source, ultimate capacity, or opening date have not yet been released.

Amazon has committed to creating 500 permanent jobs through the development. While the company could receive significant local tax incentives from Richmond County (including a 50% property tax reduction and a 65% personal property tax relief over 20 years), it has not secured any state-level incentives from North Carolina.
